With 40 black-and white line drawings by Tom Lulevitch, this book takes the reader in lively fashion through many of the phrases and sayings we use every day, all of which derive from the works of William Shakespeare.

There is also a section devoted to common and uncommon words coined by Shakespeare, and another which deals with phrases often misattributed to the Bard. The last section of the book was for me the most fascinating (though the whole book had me in its thrall) - "Titles Borrowed From Shakespeare". Here we find the works of literature (including not a few stage works) which were named using a line from Shakespeare's works.
