The collaboration between William Schwenk Gilbert and Arthur Seymour Sullivan began in 1871 with Thespis. Their last collaboration was The Grand Duke in 1896. During the intervening 25 years, they gave the world twelve other operettas.
This book contains the words of all fourteen works, the Savoy Operas. This reissue paperback edition, published by W W Norton & Co, measures just over 8" x 5" (that's 21cm x 13cm), and whilst not being a book for the pocket, is easily carried around for reference. The book is illustrated throughout by Gilbert's pen-and-ink drawings.
This is a book to form the basis of any library of Gilbert and Sullivan books. It is also useful for singers needing the libretto for plotting and blocking in rehearsal.
