Cecil Sharp (1859-1924) was the English musician who, at the turn of the century, awakened modern interest in English folk song and dance. From 1903 onwards he systematically collected songs and dances throughout England, journeying in the U.S. in 1916-18 to continue his work in the Appalachian Mountains.
This collection, for medium voice, should form the basis of the library of any serious collector of English folk music.
