First produced in 1871, Aïda is probably the most popular of Verdi's operas. It was commissioned by the Khedive of Egypt and first performed in Cairo to celebrate the opening of the Suez Canal.

The full score is useful for study, for armchair conducting and, of course, for performance. Singers may be happier with the vocal score, which is easier to carry about in rehearsal, but which only contains a piano reduction of the score.

This is a reprint of an out-of-copyright edition from another publisher, and as such, is not entirely in accordance with some modern perfomance practices. Nevertheless, it still represents incredibly good value-for-money.
