This is a book chock-full of photographs of the "old" D'Oyly Carte Company, from its beginnings right up to its demise in the eighties. It's worth buying, if only because there's a picture of Yours Truly ! When I was répétiteur (ie., musical dogsbody) with them at and around the centenary season in 1975, I used to make up my wages by doing walk-on parts. I was cast as a servant in the household of King Paramount of Utopia, and the book has a shot of me (a callow youth of 20) holding an umbrella over Kenneth Sandford as the King. Unbelievable !
