Iolanthe tells the story of the fairy who was banished from fairyland because she married a mortal. Her son Strephon (half-fairy, half-mortal) is in love with Phyllis, who takes a dim view of his loving relationship with an apparently 17-year-old girl - for fairies never grow old !

This edition, which includes dialogue, gives the vocal lines with piano accompaniment. As such, it is ideal for use by singers, musical directors and pianists, though the score contains no orchestral cues.
