Cynthia Morey / Published 1998

Amazon (UK)

The author joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1951. After three years she became a principal soprano, and continued performing with the company for another two and a half years before broadening her horizons and venturing out into the wider world of theatre. The book tells of her D'Oyly Carte days.

It's divided into ten chapters, each prefaced with an appropriate G&S quote. There are ten black and white photographs, plus a cover shot.

Cynthia Morey looks back at her time in the D'Oyly Carte with the rose-tinted spectacles firmly removed, but still with a great deal of affection. There is a foreword by John Reed, O.B.E., a firm friend of Miss Morey during her time with company and ever since.
